MIDWEST CITY, OKLAHOMA
Town Center Plaza proudly serves the Midwest City region and the east side of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.
Our plaza’s “town center” is the perfect venue for community events, holiday celebrations, and special events, and we are proudly the place to shop, dine, and play!
Town Center Plaza is deeply rooted in the resilient, innovative history of Midwest City. Our open-air shopping center stands as a premier destination for shopping and dining, serving as a direct reflection of our community’s over 80-year journey.
Midwest City was originally founded in 1942 by builder W.P. “Bill” Atkinson to support the military and civilian workforce at the nearby Midwest Air Depot (now Tinker Air Force Base). The community’s intentional, family-first design quickly gained national attention, earning Midwest City the title of “America’s Model City” in 1951.
The very existence of Town Center Plaza is a story of community strength and revitalization. Following the severe tornadoes that impacted the SE 29th Street corridor in 1999 and 2003, civic leaders and community members united to rebuild. Out of that determination, Town Center Plaza was developed, transforming the area into the thriving, modern economic and retail heartbeat of Eastern Oklahoma County.
Our center proudly carries on the city’s historic “family first” legacy, offering premier shopping, local eateries, and a vibrant community atmosphere. Conveniently located near the crossroads of I-40, I-35, and I-44, Town Center Plaza is a treasured part of the Midwest City community, proudly serving the Midwest City region and the east side of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Its spectacular parks, the Charles J. Johnson Central Park and the W.P. “Bill” Atkinson Park, feature a centennial clock, with fountain, beautiful flowers and foliage, open space, playground, pavilions, benches and sidewalks, and are wonderful venues for community concerts and special events—and lots of outdoor fun and relaxation for families and friends.
